How to remove or change the >> or » from your WordPress blog title

 

To remove or change the >> on your title do this:

  1. Go to your installation directory and ind the folder wp-includes locate the file general-template.php
  2. Find the function:
    function wp_title($sep = '»', $display = true, $seplocation = '') {

    – To remove the >> change it to:

    function wp_title($sep = ';', $display = true, $seplocation = '') {

    – To change it do this:

    function wp_title($sep = 'INSERT YOURS HERE', $display = true, $seplocation = '') {
  3. Save it and upload it to your installation.

How to remove “Blog Archive” from your WordPress blog post title

To remove the word “Blog Archive” from your title do this:

  1. Go to Appearance in the Menu
  2. Click on Editor
  3. On the right side you,  select Header from the list of theme files
  4. Look for this line:
    <title><?php bloginfo(‘name’); <?php if ( is_single() ) { ?> &amp;raquo; Blog Archive <?php } <?php wp_title(); ?></title>
  5. And replace it with this line:
    <title><?php bloginfo('name'); <?php wp_title(); ?></title>
  6. Click Update File to save it
